Folding Planes Pavillion

Featured in the “Design at Riverside” exhibition, Rhino 7, Adobe Illustrator

What It’s About…

This project dissects the idea of the pavilion down to the architectural ideas of planes and voids. From the front and back, the voids are clear, whilst the sides describe the planes. This patterned technique allows for an intriguing pathway for the visitor and a new experience every visit.

The Labyrinth…

Within the structure, there are three planes with parts that protrude and are connected. Despite the illusion of moving rectangles, one can trust that the long voids continue directly to the other end of the pavilion. This illustration describes the work of depth in creating shadows and light

Travelling through the labyrinth, one is met with teasing views, and one does not fully experience the pinnacle until the end is reached at the top. The pavilion acts as a journey to meet the roof, with places to stop and enjoy along the way.
